{"id":1350,"date":"2025-11-11T13:48:45","date_gmt":"2025-11-11T13:48:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/frednet.crs.ogs.it\/?p=1350"},"modified":"2025-11-11T14:47:28","modified_gmt":"2025-11-11T14:47:28","slug":"la-nostra-stazione-geodetica-sulleverest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/frednet.crs.ogs.it\/en\/la-nostra-stazione-geodetica-sulleverest\/","title":{"rendered":"Our geodetic station on the Everest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A LZER0 receiver, a cost-effective instrument developed by us at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ogs.it\/en\/center-seismological-research\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.ogs.it\/en\/center-seismological-research\">CRS<\/a>, is now at an altitude of 5,050 meters above sea level at the base of Mount Everest! This is where the EvK2CNR International Pyramid Laboratory-Observatory is located, which includes both seismological and geodetic instrumentation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The equipment, installed by OGS together with the association&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.evk2cnr.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">EvK2CNR<\/a>&nbsp;and the Nepal Academy of Sciences and Technology (NAST), has recently been upgraded with new equipment to improve monitoring and research on climate change and the processes affecting the regional geology. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/frednet.crs.ogs.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Piramide-1024x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1354\" srcset=\"https:\/\/frednet.crs.ogs.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Piramide-1024x1024.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/frednet.crs.ogs.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Piramide-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/frednet.crs.ogs.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Piramide-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/frednet.crs.ogs.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Piramide-768x768.jpg 768w, https:\/\/frednet.crs.ogs.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Piramide-1536x1536.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/frednet.crs.ogs.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Piramide-2048x2048.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/frednet.crs.ogs.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Piramide-12x12.jpg 12w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The IO.EVN seismic station has been active since 2014 and also recorded the powerful earthquake of magnitude M<sub>w<\/sub> 7.1, which struck central Tibet on January 7, 2025. A new accelerometer has now been added, coupled with the existing seismometer for measuring local and global earthquakes, and an infrasound sensor to record ambient noise, including rock and ice collapses and noises associated with glacier movements. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The geodetic station has also been upgraded: the existing receiver has been replaced with a new one and has also been supported by a cost-effective LZER0 receiver (<a href=\"https:\/\/frednet.crs.ogs.it\/en\/siamo-anche-developers\/\">https:\/\/frednet.crs.ogs.it\/siamo-anche-developers\/<\/a>).
