FReDNet (Friuli Regional Deformation Network) is the monitoring infrastructure of the crustal deformation in Friuli Venezia Giulia (FVG) region composed by GNSS permanent stations, developed and managed by the Centro di Ricerche Sismologiche (CRS) of OGS since June 2002, when the first of the 7 geodetic stations of a MUR (former MIUR) project was installed. FReDNet is part of Monitoring System of North-Eastern Italy (SMINO), which also includes broad band seismic stations, accelerometers and strong motion sensors. The data from FReDNet provide useful clues for seismic hazard assessment, allowing to complement the pure seismic data. In this way, a better comprehension of the current geodynamics of the FVG region and surroundings can be pursued.

The main objectives of FReDNet are: to study the deformation distribution along the north-eastern boundary of the Adria microplate, to evaluate the interseismic deformation accumulation on its active faults, to monitor dangerous fault zones for effective emergency response management, to create a robust infrastructure for the management and processing of geodetic data and to offer Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) services for precise positioning and monitoring applications.
FReDNet is continuously growing and, nowadays, counts 22 active permanent GNSS stations. The network growth and evolution has been and is being supported by scientific projects, as the RTK (Progetto GPS – RTK: una rete GPS per il posizionamento in tempo reale nel Friuli Venezia Giulia) project; VenetONE project, signed between OGS and the Veneto Region to implement Action 5.1 of the POR-FESR 2014-2020 "Integration and development of multi-risk prevention systems, also through interoperable digital networks for early operational coordination"; the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) MEET (Monitoring Earth’s Evolution and Tectonic) project, born within the framework of the European Plate Observing System (EPOS) Research Infrastructure with the idea of relaunching the observation systems dedicated to the discovery of the Earth's dynamics by focusing on the Italian territory, in particular in the regions most affected by natural risks.

Information on the stations equipment and on station position can be found by clicking on the map on the seeked site. Moreover, from the Friuli Regional Deformation Network Data Center (FReDNet DC) it is possible to download both (raw and RINEX) data and the elaborated products (time series and velocity solutions).
