The first two weeks of July saw the colleagues of the Centro di Ricerche Sismologiche engaged in the geodetic monitoring campaign, which is periodically carried out in Tolmezzo and the surrounding areas, to collect data regarding the tectonic deformation undergoing in the most seismically active sector of the entire Alpine chain.
During the second week, geodetic measurements were accompanied by gravimetric measurements. Gravimetry, in fact, sensitive to density variations in the subsurface, can help to better identify the relative movements of crustal masses beneath the topography.
