The new project concerning geoscientific infrastructures for research officially started on August 1st: the project “GeoSciences RISE: a geological Research Infrastructure for Southern regions and Enterprises”, continuation of the PNRR GeosciencesIR project ( https://www.ogs.it/en/projects/geosciences-ir , https://www.geosciences-ir.it/ ), has four main strategic objectives: 1. Consolidation of the GeoSciencesIR infrastructure; 2. Expansion into new geological areas of interest for companies; 3. Advanced training and skills development; and 4. Adoption of best practices in geological and environmental data management.

In this project, we will focus on two topics: the study of local deformation and subsidence in selected coastal areas of Southern Italy through the analysis of geodetic and geological data and the use of GNSS-IR (GNSS interferometric reflectometry) technique; and the monitoring of a landslide in Sicily through the installation of cost-effective geodetic stations.
